KONTANKT INTERFACE FEATURES

Tigris And Euphrates by Sonokinetic Kontakt Interface

Main view: keyswitches, key zones for makam styles, harmonic root and style labels

  • Red zones: Keys witches. All patches start at B0 when loaded. So the root harmony when loaded is tuned in western well tempered root key “B”.
  • Green zones: Breathing sfx samples
  • Blue & cyan zones: All makam styles are mapped alphabetically in groups as follows:
    1. Hicaz (sample abbreviation: H)
    2. Huseyni (sample abbreviation: HS)
    3. Kurdili Hicazkar (sample abbreviation: KH)
    4. Nihavent (sample abbreviation: N)
    5. Rast (sample abbreviation: R)
    6. Saba (sample abbreviation: S)
    7. Segah (sample abbreviation: SG)
  • Labels: When a blue or cyan colored key is pressed, a label appears above the wood carved emblem at the bottom right of the interface to show which Makam style is applied. For a detailed scale view refer to the “Scale indicator tab”.
Notice: When there is no style available in the chosen root key it starts with the first in line. The same is applied when one is missing in between. It jumps to the next in line.

  • Tigris And Euphrates by Sonokinetic Convolution View

  • Tigris And Euphrates by Sonokinetic Envelope View

Scale indicator: linked to the style key zones. Presented with individual note intervals.

  • The scale indicator is linked to the key zones colored blue and cyan. When pressed the corresponding makam style and its harmonic translation is displayed and stays displayed until another makam style is activated.
  • For a detailed reference to each makam, we strongly advise to read our “Historical and musical origins” documentation.

  • Note: Middle Eastern music theory and character is very different form western music. Due to it’s many microtones used in these makams. But as a general reference we found that a lot of our minor and major keys go well with these samples. We specifically applied western tuning while recording these samples. For instance, the root key goes well with major as the 4th and 5th go well in minor. But all these harmonic references are interchangeable and can be combined to create thousands of original combinations. The full potential of this sample library is yet to be unleashed.

    Additional Information:

    Responsibility disclosure

We have been treated with much respect and given all freedom to record inside the mosque during live prayer sessions. All the texts are about love, friendship and peace. We would like apply to the users respect for these texts and use them in a properly fashion.
